The Indian women’s team in the 50m rifle 3 positions event clinched the silver medal at the Asian Games 2026. Shooters Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa K Vinod also advanced to the individual finals on Saturday.
In the team competition, the trio of Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa K Vinod, and Ashi Chouksey secured second place with a total score of 1763-90x. China took home the gold medal, while India showcased a commendable performance throughout the qualification rounds.
Tilottama emerged as the standout performer for India, scoring 590 points, followed closely by Vidarsa with 588 points and Ashi with 585 points. Unfortunately, Ashi did not qualify for the individual finals.
In the individual qualification, Tilottama and Vidarsa finished third and sixth, respectively, to secure their spots in the final. Tilottama’s consistent scores included 197 in kneeling, 199 in prone, and 196 in standing, totaling 590.
Vidarsa, after a tough start in kneeling with a score of 193, rebounded with 199 in prone and 196 in standing, finishing with 588 points.
Ashi’s performance included scores of 196 in kneeling, 199 in prone, and 190 in standing, totaling 585 points, just shy of qualifying for the finals.
The 50m rifle 3 positions event consists of three stages: kneeling, prone, and standing, with the top shooters from the qualification round moving on to the finals.
Athletics: Sawan Barwal’s Historic Marathon Silver
In another remarkable achievement, Sawan Barwal made history by winning the silver medal in the men’s marathon, finishing with a national record time of 2:11:37.
Decathlon Update
In the decathlon, Tejaswin Shankar and Thowfeeq Noushad placed fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 100m event. Tejaswin later excelled in the long jump, achieving a best of 7.53m, while Thowfeeq secured third place with 7.37m.
Tejaswin’s performance elevated him to second overall with 1807 points, while Thowfeeq held fourth with 1759 points.
