“He made us announce our breaks on Teams before stepping away and limited us to only two 30-minute breaks. He convinced our director and business unit heads that his new rules improved productivity, so no one questioned him,” recollected the woman.

Despite the strict rules, the woman revealed that she was lucky to escape as she worked mostly with the team in the UK.  “Luckily, I mostly work with UK colleagues, so I don’t deal with him much,” said the female employee.

However, things got ugly when the manager continuously called her on an approved leave day and asked her to join a meeting. “I joined the call, and as soon as I did, my programme manager asked why I was there. I told them, ‘I was asked to join.’ Everyone immediately told him, ‘A, this wouldn’t fly with UK HR — you can’t do this.’ He turned off his camera right after,” she said.

Subsequently, the German director was added on to the call. He quickly asked the woman to log off. Meanwhile, the incidnet angered the Indian manager.

“Now my manager is angry, saying I manipulated people and tried to ruin his image. But I’m happy I did it. Now everyone knows how toxic he is,” said the woman.

Redditors also lauded the woman for standing up and involving the higher management. They assured her that she did the right thing.
