Indian Embassy in Dublin, Ireland celebrates India’s Independence Day amid community support

Dublin: Embassy of India in Dublin, Ireland, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with enthusiastic participation of Hon’ble Lord Mayor of Dublin Councillor Ray McAdam, Irish friends of India besides Indian diaspora.

Ambassador of India to Ireland, H.E. Akhilesh Mishra, addressing the gathering, reminded that very large numbers of people made supreme sacrifices for our Independence. The only real tribute to the martyrs & freedom fighters is for all of us to do our respective duties to our fullest potential, keeping national spirit ahead of individual interest.

Regarding recent spate of attacks on Indian community members, Ambassador shared that the Indian Embassy was working very closely with various relevant Irish authorities. All of them recognised the contribution in Irish society, culture and economy and reassured about their efforts to address safety-concerns of Indians.

In an exceptional gesture of solidarity, the President of Ireland, the Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister, Justice Minister, Ireland’s National Police Commissioner, many Members of parliament, Mayors and intellectuals, common Irish people have strongly condemned racism and publicly expressed appreciation and support for the Indian community.
