Indian cricket team off to Ahmedabad for T20 World Cup final vs New Zealand – Watch

New Delhi: Indian cricket team, led by skipper Suryakumar Yadav, are off to Ahmedabad for the T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand. The summit clash of marquee event will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, March 8, with India aiming to defend their title.

On Thursday, India beat England by 7 runs in the second semifinal match at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai to seal a place in the finale. A day later on Friday, the Indian contingent was seen deboarding the team bus outside the Mumbai airport and entering into the premises as per a video on social media site X.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, along with his girlfriend, pacer Arshdeep Singh, skipper Suryakumar, Tilak Varma among other players were seen entering the airport in the afternoon.

Fans gather in large numbers

Meanwhile, fans gathered in large numbers at the airport premises to catch a glimpse of the Indian team members. Loud chants were heard for the entire contingent with people shouting the names of the Sanju Samson and Jasprit Bumrah in particular, both of whom played a pivotal role in India reaching the summit clash.

In a tense semifinal in Mumbai, India beat England by seven runs in a nail-biter to storm into the finale while a day earlier on Wednesday, New Zealand thrashed South Africa by 9 wickets to book a place in the summit clash. Team India would be chasing their third title at the event and if they do so, they will become the first side to defend the T20 World Cup. They will also become the first team to bag the title on home soil.
