India’s women’s wrestling contingent continued its strong run at the U20 World Championships in Slovakia, adding three more medals to the country’s tally.
The latest day of competition saw India secure one silver and two bronze medals across three weight categories.
Mansi Lather came closest to winning gold in the 68kg category but had to settle for silver after a closely fought final against China’s Chenling Song. In a defensive contest, Song edged Lather 2-1 to deny the Indian wrestler the top prize.
India then enjoyed success in the bronze-medal bouts. Tanvi Gundesh Magdum produced an impressive performance in the 57kg category, defeating Canada’s Agnia Krakovska 10-4 to claim the bronze medal.
Komal completed India’s medal haul for the day in the 59kg category. She secured a convincing 5-2 victory over Hungary’s Eda Balazs in the bronze-medal playoff.
With three more medals added, India’s latest women’s wrestling tally stands at one silver and two bronze medals. The Indian contingent will now turn its attention to the remaining men’s freestyle categories – 57kg, 65kg, 79kg and 92kg – as the championship continues in Slovakia.
