Asia Cup 2025 Trophy Controversy: The Board of Control for Cricket in India is hopeful that the Asia Cup 2025 trophy will soon reach its headquarters in Mumbai. According to reports, it is said that the trophy will be in their hands in a day or two. But if no change is seen in the situation, then BCCI will take a big step before the ICC on November 4. It is noteworthy that the Indian team had defeated Pakistan in the final of the Asia Cup and won the trophy. But, Mohsin Naqvi refused to give the trophy and took the cup back.
India did not get the trophy in Asia Cup final
The matter started on September 14, when the teams of India and Pakistan faced each other for the first time in the group stage of Asia Cup 2025. In that match, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav did not shake hands with Pakistani captain Salman Ali Aga. After that the Indian players also refused to shake hands. This dispute between the two teams went till the final match. Surya refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi, after which he took the cup and went to his hotel. He remained adamant on his insistence that India would have to take the trophy from his hands only.
BCCI Secretary gave a big update
However, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia, while talking to news agency PTI, has said that
We are a little unhappy with the way the Indian team has not been given the trophy even after a month. We are taking this matter forward. About 10 days ago also we had written a letter to the President of Asian Cricket Council, but after that there has been no change in his stance till now. The trophy is still with them and we hope that it will reach us in 1 to 2 days at the BCCI office in Mumbai.

Devjit Saikia further said in his conversation that,
If even after this the trophy is not given to the Indian team, then BCCI will work to raise this issue in the ICC quarterly meeting to be held in Dubai on November 4. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has officially said about giving the trophy. But, Naqvi is reportedly completely firm on his point. He is suggesting that Indian players not take it personally at any future event, as a formal solution has not been found yet.
Indian players celebrated without trophy
In the final match of Asia Cup 2025, the Indian team had defeated Pakistan badly. After that all the programs took place but the trophy was not given to the Indian captain. But the players of Team India did not disappoint their fans and celebrated in a unique way on the field without the trophy. During this time all the players and support staff of India should also be present. The players had also shared pictures of the celebration on their respective social media accounts.
