New Delhi: India will be looking to bag their second consecutive victory and go 2-0 up in the five-match series when the lock horns with West Indies in the 2nd T20I at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi on Friday, October 09. thrashed the visitors by 8 wickets in the series opener in New Chandigarh on Tuesday to go 1-0 up.
Barring Sanju Samson’s poor form at the top, there are little concerns for India in their batting line-up heading into the second T20I against West Indies. Meanwhile, the hosts will expect the likes of Mayank Yadav and Arshdeep Singh to step up with the ball against a powerful West Indies batting line-up.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in for Sanju Samson?
Samson has been under immense pressure to retain his spot as an opener amid his struggles with the bat in T20Is. The right-hander was dismissed cheaply on 11 in the first T20I as his poor form with the bat continued. Samson has managed only 29 runs in his last 4 innings for India.
With 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryvanshi breathing down his neck, it will be difficult for the Indian team management in the 2nd T20I. Despite head coach Gautam Gambhir insisting that Samson and Abhishek Sharma are India’s preferred opening pair in T20I, Sooryavanshi has made a strong case with his sensational performances.
It remains to be seen if India will make a change at the top and bring Sooryavanshi into the playing XI in place of Samson. Meanwhile, the likes of Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer and Tilak Varma have all been in decent form, easing the pressure on the top order. There are unlikely to be any changes in the bowling line-up, with Naman Dhr also contrutng wth the ball.
