The Shreyas Iyer-led Indian cricket team will now head to Hnry Stadium in Wellington for the third T20I encounter against Mitchell Santner’s New Zealand on Tuesday, October 27, following two consecutive dramatic victories while chasing at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
The Kiwis will be keen to win and keep the series alive with two games remaining, while the Men in Blue will aim to win the game and establish an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. So far, both teams have shown remarkable batting ability, but their bowling is still inconsistent.
Both teams gave up more than 200 runs while bowling in the first match, but in the second, after a strong start, India let New Zealand post a difficult total with careless bowling in the final overs. The hosts then repeated this pattern, allowing the visitors to chase down a 181-run target despite being reduced to 70 for 5 at one point.
This implies that, even while batters are still more important, the outcome of the third game may depend on who can prevent the opposition’s hitters from scoring easy runs.
