New Delhi: With the series still alive, the fifth and final Test match between India and England at The Oval will witness few changes in the playing XI for both the sides. After an emphatic draw in Manchester where the Indian batters batted for more than five sessions, the Shubman Gill-led side would wish to bag a win in the finale to end the series on draw.
Meanwhile for England, it would be the last chance to pocket the series after having already taken a 2-1 lead in the five-game affair and a draw in the last game. According to a report in Times of India, all-rounder Akash Deep, who missed the last match due to an injury, might be considered for the final Test match, which would have at least three more pacers.
It is further mentioned that spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who has been waiting for a call in the first four games, might be considered for the final Test while call on ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah would be taken in the next 24 hours, mentions the report.
Anshul Kamboj unlikely to play 5th Test
Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj, who had an underwhelming debut in the last Test match, is unlikely to be a part of the series finale. Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep should make their places with Bumrah or Prasidh Krishna in the line up. Most of the players from the last match would be retained in the line up with a call set to be taken about Shardul Thakur and Sai Sudharsan who did not play up to expectations in the Manchester Test.
Bumrah’s inclusion for the Test match has become highly debatable as the star pacer has already played his part of performing in the three matches and due to workload management, his services for the series are over. But with the match becoming of crucial importance for India, Bumrah might be included for it.
