New Delhi: Shubman Gill-led India will look to return to winning ways and keep the series alive when they lock horns with England in the 4th Test at Old Trafford in Manchester on Wednesday. India suffered a heartbreaking 22-run loss despite Ravindra Jadeja’s valiant knock to go 2-1 down in the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
India have never won a Test match in Manchester, drawing 4 out of nine matches played against England at the venue. However, the visitors will have to bring an end to their winless run at the venue, if they are to keep their hopes alive of pulling off a historic Test series victory in England. It won’t be an easy task for the visitors, who have been plagued with injury issued ahead of the 4th Test.
India will miss the services of all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the series. Pacer Arshdeep Singh is also out with an injury, while Akash Deep is uncertain to feature due to a groin niggle. Anshul Kamboj, who was added as cover, might be set for his Test debut in Manchester.
Meanwhile, England have made only a solitary change as they have already announced their playing XI for the Test match. The hosts have roped in veteran spinner Liam Dawson in the playing XI to replace Shoaib Bashir, who is out due to an injury. England will be looking to clinch their second win on the trot and bag the series.
