India took a commanding 3-0 lead over Bangladesh by half-time in their men’s hockey Pool A match at the Asian Games 2026. The Indian side controlled the contest through the opening two quarters, with Abhishek, Jugraj Singh and captain Harmanpreet Singh finding the net to put their team firmly in front.
Abhishek opened the scoring for India in the first quarter with a well-executed strike. The early goal gave India momentum and allowed them to dictate the tempo of the match, while Bangladesh struggled to create a sustained attacking threat against the Indian defence.
India extended their advantage through Jugraj Singh, who converted a penalty stroke after India were awarded the opportunity. Jugraj had won the penalty stroke himself, giving India a 2-0 lead and further strengthening their control over the Pool A encounter.
Captain Harmanpreet Singh then added another goal late in the second quarter. India earned a penalty corner, and Harmanpreet converted the opportunity to make it 3-0 before the half-time whistle. His goal capped a productive first half for the Indian team.
With a three-goal advantage at the interval, India entered the second half in a strong position. Bangladesh will need a significant improvement in attack if they are to reduce the deficit, while India will look to maintain their defensive organisation and build on their lead in the remaining quarters.
