In ‘Economic Times World Leadership Forum’, Jaishankar said that India’s purchasing crude oil from Russia is not only in the interest of the country, but also for the stability of the global oil market. Giving the example of 2022, he said that at that time oil prices were rising rapidly and India’s buying oil from Russia was helpful in balanceing the market.

In response to criticism about oil imports, Jaishankar said, ‘If you do not like it, do not buy it, but buy Europe and America. We take our decisions in the national interest. He also said that the arguments that are being used against India regarding China do not apply to China.
Talks with America and ‘Red Line’
Jaishankar said that business talks between the US and India are going on. However, there are differences on some issues. India makes its ‘red line’ clear. He said that it is our priority to protect the interests of farmers and small businessmen.
India-Russia and Global Relations
The purpose of Jaishankar’s recent Russia visit was to increase bilateral talks. He clarified that India’s situation is also clear on the Ukraine dispute and India wants the Russia-Ukraine crisis to end soon. Jaishankar also stated that India continues talks with other major countries such as America and China. ‘We are two big countries, we need dialogue and will see how it moves forward.’
