New Delhi: The Indian tri-service contingent is set to participate in a joint military exercise with the Seychelles armed forces from March 9 to 20. This exercise aims to bolster the combined operational readiness and enhance synergy between the two sides, the Indian defence ministry said.
The troops from the Assam Regiment, Indian Navy Force, and Indian Air Force, including INS Trikand and a C-130 aircraft, will be a part of this edition.
This will be the 11th edition of the joint exercise with the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) of the Indian contingent, and as of now, they have arrived in Seychelles for the exercise.
This exercise between the Indian contingent and the Seychelles is named Lamitiye, which means “friendship” in the Creole language. This exercise has been conducted between these sides since 2001, and it is a biennial training event.
“Both sides will jointly train, plan and execute a series of tactical drills for neutralisation of likely threats that may be encountered in semi-urban environment, while exploiting and showcasing new generation equipment and technology,” the statement said.
The motto of this exercise is to enhance synergy in the domains of unconventional operations in semi-urban environments and cooperation between both sides. It also promotes bilateral military relations, including practices and experience.
This will be a 12-day exercise, in which field training, combat training, case studies, lectures, and demonstrations will be included. A statement read that the exercise will help immensely to add mutual understanding and magnify jointness between the armed forces of both sides.
