India-Pakistan T20 World Cup clash to go ahead as per schedule, ICC says no penalty for BCB

New Delhi: The much-awaited clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is set to go ahead as per schedule in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. All decks were cleared for the marquee clash following a marathon meeting between ICC and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials in Lahore on Sunday.

As per Cricbuzz, the match, which is scheduled to take place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on February 15, will go ahead as per the original schedule following developments in the Lahore meeting. It was a tripartite meeting at the Gaddafi Stadium, which was also attended by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul.

Uncertainty was looming over the India-Pakistan game, arguably the most sought-after fixture in the T20 World Cup 2026, after the Pakistan government announced earlier this month that it has directed PCB to boycott the clash. Pakistan’s decision came in solidarity with Bangladesh, who were replaced from the tournament after refusing to travel to India, citing security reasons.

While there were no major gains for Pakistan from the meeting in Lahore, where ICC was represented by deputy chairman Imran Khawaja, the world governing body agreed not to penalise Bangladesh despite their refusal to travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026.
