Asia Cup History, check full winners list: The Asia Cup 2025 is all set to be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28, with the BCCI being the dedicated hosts of the tournament.
India are the most successful team in the tournament’s history and will kick off their campaign in this year’s edition with the match against the UAE. The Men in Blue are drawn in group A alongside Pakistan, UAE and Oman. Their much-awaited clash against arch-rivals Pakistan is scheduled to be played on September 14 in Dubai, and the two rivals could meet as many as three times should they progress to the Super 4 stage and the final.
Of the 19 matches in the Asia Cup 2025, 11, including the final, will be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, while Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium will host the remaining eight.

Organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the Asia Cup tournament was established in 1983 and is held every two years to crown the continental champions. This year’s tournament will be the 17th edition of the competition, and it will feature eight teams that have been divided into two groups.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super 4 stage, from where the two toppers will clash in the final on September 28.

Notably, the Asia Cup cricket tournament was played in the 50-over ODI format for its first 12 editions. However, the tournament has been played on a rotational basis between ODIs and T20Is since 2016. To date, the Asia Cup has been played in the T20 format only twice – first in 2016 and then in 2022.
Sri Lanka hold the record for most Asia Cup appearances, having featured in all 16 editions so far.
