Japan behind India
According to the report, India registered an increase of 11.1 per cent in 2024 as compared to 2023 and a total of 21.1 million passengers traveled by air. This figure is more than Japan, where 20.5 crore passengers traveled by air in 2024. However, the annual growth rate in Japan was 18.6 percent. The IATA report said, ‘America remains the largest aviation market in the world, where 87.6 crore passengers traveled in 2024. At the same time, China was second in this list where 74.1 crore passengers traveled by air in the same period and recorded an increase of 18.7 percent as compared to 2023.
India reached the top 5
According to data released by IATA, where India finished fifth, Britain (26.1 crore passengers) finished third and Spain fourth (24.1 crore passengers). According to the IATA, the Mumbai-Delhi route stood seventh in the year 2024, where a total of 59 lakh passengers traveled by air. According to the IATA, the Asia-Pacific region dominated the list of the world’s busiest air routes. In the year 2024, the Jeju-Siol route of South Korea was the most popular air route in the world, where 1.32 crore passengers traveled.
