New Delhi: The Indian women’s hockey team got off to a flyer at the Hockey Women’s Asia Cup 2025 with a thumping 11-0 victory against Thailand in their opening game of the tournament. Udita Duhan and Beauty Dung Dung headlined India’s dominant show as they bagged a brace each to help their team crush Thailand in their opening game in Hangzhou, China.
9th-ranked India dominated the proceedings right from the onset against 30th-ranked Thailand, scoring twice in the first quarter to get off to a dream start. India gained early momentum in the game and didn’t take their foot off the pedal. Mumtaz Khan opened the scoring for India in the 7th minute, before Sangita Kumari scored in the 10th minute to double India’s lead in the first quarter.
Udita completed her brace with goals in the 30th and the 52nd minutes, while Dung Dung found the back of the net in the 45th and the 54th minutes. Navneet Kaur, Lalremsiami, Thoudam Suman Devi, Sharmila Devi and Rutaja Dadaso Pisal were the other goal-scorers for India in the game.
