The question was originally for Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur, but she was not there, so it was directed to the bowling coach, Avishkar Salvi. The journalist asked if the bitterness from the Asia Cup 2025 might carry over to the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 clash in Colombo.
The journalist asked, as quoted by India Today, “I had a question for the Indian captain, but since you’re here, I’ll ask you instead. We’ve seen that the women’s teams of both Pakistan and India share good camaraderie, at least leading up to this World Cup. So, do you think the bitterness from the Asia Cup might carry over to the women’s teams as well?”

Asia Cup 2025 drama highlight
Notably, there was all-time high drama during the India-Pakistan encounters in the 2025 Asia Cup both on and off the field, including the handshake saga in the group stage.
During the Super Four clash, Pakistan’s Haris Rauf made provocative 6-0 gestures aimed at India, while Sahibzada Farhan celebrated his half-century with a mock gunshot, escalating on-field controversies. Even India’s victory in the final by seven wickets in Dubai was marred by the trophy controversy.
The Indian team refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, as he was also Pakistan’s Interior Minister. Naqvi left the presentation ceremony with the trophy, and the winners have still not gotten the medals and trophy.
