India Ranks Among Top Tourist Countries 2025
India has now joined the world’s most favorite tourism destinations. India has managed to make a third place in the countries which the iconic newspaper ‘The Telegraph’ has described for the year 2025 for the year 2025. In this list, New Zealand is at number one and Japan on the second, while big countries like America, China are left behind in this rankings.
Brilliant hospitality gave this honor
London based chartered accountant Sarthak Ahuja said in a post on LinkedIn that two major hotels in India – Oberoi and Taj have attended the top hotels in the world. Oberoi got the first and Taj got third place. This reflects the rapid growth of the hotel sector in India.
Ahuja said that the Indian Hotels Company LTD (IHCL), which runs the Taj Hotels, has opened 50 new hotels since January 2024. The company plans to take the number of hotels to 700 by 2030. This race also includes the ACCOR Group of France, which is preparing to increase its hotels to three times.
Changes in travel habits
India’s per capita GDP has now crossed $ 3,000. This has a direct impact on people’s travel habits. People are now leaving for 3 to 4 times within the country along with traveling abroad once a year. This has given a tremendous boost to domestic tourism. Currently, the number of branded hotel rooms in India is around two lakhs, which is equal to a small country like UAE, while the population there is just 1% compared to India. That is, now it is necessary to increase the supply of hotels according to the demand.
Siliguri is becoming the new center of destination wedding
The trend of destination wedding is increasing rapidly across the country. A new name has been included in this trend, Siliguri. Many families from Bihar and Bengal are liking this hill station for marriage. According to Ahuja, he himself went to Siliguri and saw that Mefare is already present there, and now big brands like Taj, ITC and Hyatt are also preparing to open hotels. People are spending up to Rs 1 crore on weddings, and hotels with 100 rooms are also falling short. It is clear that India’s hospitality sector is not only growing, but is also creating new opportunities with changing priorities.
