Following the new rules announced by the US government, the US has decided to temporarily stop the goods used by post. This decision will be applicable on most goods from 25 August 2025. However, gift items and letters/documents up to $ 100 will be accepted as before.
The US has a new rule on 30 July 2025 Executive Order No. 14324 released, under which the duty-free discount on imported things up to $ 800 has been abolished. From August 29, all the things coming to the US will be charged custom duty, which will be under the International Emergency Economic Power Act. However, gift items up to $ 100 will be duty-free.

According to this new rule, the “qualified parties” approved by transport companies or US CBP will have to collect and submit duty on things sent via post. CBP issued some guidelines on August 15, but who will be “Qualified Parties” so far and what the duty collection system will be will not be clear.
Due to this uncertainty, the air carriers going to US have said that they will not accept postal items after August 25, as they have operational and technical problems. Therefore, the Department of Posts have announced that until the next notice comes, only letters, documents and gift items up to $ 100 will be accepted for the US. All other postal services will be closed.
The Department of Posts are trying to solve this problem in collaboration with CBP and United States Portal Services (USPS) so that the entire services can be restored as soon as possible. Customers who have already booked something, which cannot be sent now, can take the refund of postage. The department said that we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused by the customers and we are trying our best to start all postal services for America soon.
