The Corps Commander agreed in the talks to maintain peace on the India-China border. Avoidance of conflict and withdrawal of troops were discussed in the meeting. Resumption of direct flights after 5 years is also a sign of improvement in relations.
New Delhi: An agreement has been reached in the Corps Commander level talks to maintain peace and stability on the India-China border. This decision was taken after taking stock of the current situation in a meeting held at Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on 25th of this month. Issues like ways to avoid conflict in sensitive areas, withdrawal of troops from the border and patrolling arrangements were discussed in the meeting. The two countries have also decided to continue military talks to reduce tensions after the 2020 Galwan clash. According to the stance of the leaders of both the countries, it was also agreed to maintain peace in the border area. The Ministry of External Affairs said that this will help in restoring normal life on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh.
‘Bhai-Bhai’ again after 5 years
It has been almost five years since relations between India and China deteriorated. The tension that started with the border dispute later reached the diplomatic level, due to which the relations between the two countries were at their worst. But, the world equations are changing due to the decisions and threats of Donald Trump’s second term as US President. The latest issue in this series is the relationship between India and China becoming ‘brotherly’ again. After five years, direct flights between the two countries were recently resumed. After this, now a big change is being seen in the tension on the border.
Decision to strengthen India-China relations
This indicates that relations between the two countries are normalising. The flights that were stopped in 2020 were restarted recently. It is expected that the relations deteriorated after the clash in Galwan Valley will now improve. Strengthening India-China diplomatic relations was an important issue in the meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Shanghai Summit. The Foreign Ministry had said in a statement that the resumption of flights will strengthen relations between the citizens of the two countries and increase cooperation. After this, the consensus reached in the Corps Commander level talks for peace and stability on the India-China border also raises great hopes.
