‘India can’t complain’: Ex-England captain reacts after Shubman Gill’s ‘grow some b****’ jibe on Zak Crawley

New Delhi: There was drama on the field towards the end of Day 3′ play in the ongoing Lord’s Test between India and England as Indian skipper Shubman Gill was involved in a fiery exchange with Zak Crawley. The tensions escalated between the two teams after England came out to bat in their second innings right before stumps on Day 3.

With only a couple of overs left in the day, England openers appeared to be deliberately trying to slow down the proceedings to ensure they face minimal deliveries before the close of play. Crawley used tactics such as adjusting the sight screens, stopping Jasprit Bumrah mid-way through his run-up and calling medical help after being hit on his finger to delay the proceedings.

As a result, stumps were called after only one over was bowled during England’s second innings as the two openers survived. However, the hosts’ tactics didn’t go down well with the Indian team. Indian skipper Gill saw his frustrations boil over during the final over and decided to give an earful to the England openers.

“Grow some f****** b****,” Gill was seen telling Crawly, venting out at England’s delay tactics.

Reacting to the fiery exchange between the two teams over England’s time-wasting tactics, former England captain Michael Vaughan said that neither team has the right to complain as both sides have used similar tactics during the game. Vaughan also cheekily stated that England’s tactics to waste time were some of the best he has seen.

“It’s as good a piece of time-wasting I’ve ever seen,” said Vaughan.

“India can’t complain because yesterday Gill was down with the hamstring strain, KL Rahul was off the field and wouldn’t have been able to open the batting,” he added.
