Canada and India are close to finalizing an export deal worth about US$2.8 billion, the Globe and Mail reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. The report says that if Canada sends uranium to India, this agreement will last for 10 years. Uranium will be supplied by Cameco Corp of Canada. The report says that this deal could be part of a broader nuclear cooperation effort between the two countries.
The Government of India, the Indian Trade Ministry, the Government of Canada and the Canadian Trade Ministry did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
