IND-W vs BAN-W Match: The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match between India and Bangladesh remained inconclusive due to rain. With this, the league stage of this World Cup, which was badly affected by rain, ended. In this match played on Sunday 26 October in Navi Mumbai, Bangladesh scored 119 runs in 27 overs. In response, Team India seemed to be moving towards victory but the rain returned again in the 9th over and after this the umpires decided to cancel the match.
This match played at DY Patil Stadium was not going to make any difference on the semi-final line-up of the tournament. For Team India, it was just a formality and an opportunity to test some players sitting on the bench, whereas for Bangladesh it was a chance to save some honour. But due to rain, the match started very late and when the match started, rain again hampered it, due to which it had to be played in 27 overs each.
The match could not be completed due to rain
Bangladesh batted first and wickets kept falling from the beginning. His 3 wickets had fallen for only 53 runs. But here a good partnership was seen between Sharmin Akhtar (36) and Sobhana Mostari (26), in which Sobhana was batting very fast. But in the 22nd over, Sobhana was out on the score of 91 runs and from here the collapse started. After this, Bangladesh lost wickets in every over and in the end the team’s score in 27 overs was only 119 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. Spinner Radha Yadav, who got a chance in this match, took maximum 3 wickets.
When Team India came out to bat, the new target in front of it was 126 runs due to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. However, during this period, a bad news came for the Indian team in the form of Pratika Raval, whose ankle and knee were injured while fielding. In such a situation, Team India sent Amanjot Kaur (15) for the opening as an experiment. Smriti Mandhana (34) and Amanjot had added 57 runs without losing any wicket in 8.4 overs, when the match was stopped again due to rain and could not start after that. The umpires decided to end the match there.
Bangladesh gains, Pakistan loses
Bangladesh got the biggest benefit from the cancellation of this match and Pakistan suffered the loss. The match remained inconclusive, due to which India and Bangladesh got 1 point each. This did not make much difference to Team India because it remained in fourth place with 7 points and remained in the semi-finals. Bangladesh, which was currently at 8th position, jumped to 7th position. Bangladesh got a total of 3 points and equaled Pakistan in this matter. But while Bangladesh had won one match, the Pakistani team could not win even a single match. Therefore, it proved to be the worst team of the tournament and stood at 8th i.e. last place.
