India and Armenia are actively strengthening their bilateral relationship, with recent Foreign Office Consultations highlighting a renewed focus on various sectors.
Senior officials from both nations, led by Secretary (West) Sibi George for India and Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan for Armenia, recently reviewed comprehensive aspects of their partnership.
The discussions encompassed critical areas such as trade, investment, and collaboration in science and technology, including artificial intelligence. Education and cultural exchanges also featured prominently, underscoring a commitment to fostering deeper people-to-people connections. Both sides also exchanged views on pressing regional and global issues, reflecting a shared understanding of international dynamics.
This latest round of consultations builds upon the productive 11th India-Armenia Foreign Office Consultations held in Yerevan last year. That meeting saw significant progress, including the signing of an agreement on cooperation in public health and medical science, aiming to benefit citizens in both countries. Defence cooperation has also emerged as a vital pillar of this growing partnership.
Just last month, a Joint Working Group Meeting on Defence Cooperation took place in Hyderabad, Telangana. Officials, including India’s Joint Secretary Vishwesh Negi and Armenia’s Levon Ayvazyan, deliberated on enhancing defence industrial collaboration and addressing other security-related matters. These sustained engagements demonstrate a clear trajectory towards a robust and multifaceted partnership between India and Armenia.
