India appeal against 30 per cent fine verdict of skipper Suryakumar Yadav

New Delhi: India have appealed against the International Cricket Council’s verdict of levying a 30 per cent of fine on skipper Suryakumar Yadav for his comments after the Asia Cup group fixture against Pakistan. This came after the ICC imposed a 30 per cent fine on the Indian skipper after he extended solidarity towards the Pahalgam terror victims during India and Pakistan’s group clash.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan’s Haris Rauf was also imposed a 30 per cent fine while fellow player Sahibzada Farhan was let go with a warning of not repeating the provocative gestures they did during the Super Four clash against Men in Blue last Sunday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan had filed a complaint against the Indian skipper with the ICC for making political comments after dedicating his team’s victory over Pakistan to the Indian armed forces. Suryakumar pleaded not guilty to the charge and was apparently told not to make any statement that could be construed as political in the remainder of the tournament.
