Independence Day Bihar 2025: On Independence Day, Nitish Kumar hoisted the tricolor at Gandhi Maidan in Patna and pledged for development and employment in Bihar. He counted achievements in the fields of law and order, education, health and women empowerment.
Patna News: On the occasion of Independence Day, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar hoisted the tricolor at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. On this occasion, he bowed to the courage and sacrifice of the brave soldiers of the Indian Army and appreciated the contribution of Biharites in nation building. Giving details of the development works done since 2005, he said that Nitish Kumar emphasized the progress in areas like law and order, education, health, employment, women empowerment and agriculture.
Major change in law and order
The Chief Minister said that when his government was formed in 2005, the first priority was to improve law and order. At that time there were only 42,000 jawans in the police force, which has now increased to 1,31,000 and aims to increase it further. The recruitment process is going on continuously and soon the number will reach 2,29,000. The CM claimed that in the last few years, there has been a significant decrease in ransom, robbery and kidnapping incidents, so people are now able to travel without any fear.
New heights in education
CM said that his government gave priority to education. To overcome the huge shortage of teachers, new schools were opened and large -scale employed teachers were recruited. Bicycle and school dress scheme for girls and boys has been launched, along with an incentive amount of Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000 is being given to girls passing 12th and 50 thousand rupees. He said that 2.54 lakh employed teachers have been made permanent through easy examination, after which the total number of teachers has increased to 5.12 lakhs.

Expansion of health services
Nitish Kumar said that the health system was very weak before 2005. At that time, an average of 39 patients used to come to a primary health center daily, which has now increased to 11,600 every month. New medical colleges are being built in 21 districts, while the capacity of 5 medical colleges is being increased to 2,500 beds. There is also a plan to make IGIMS a 3,000 -bed hospital.
Plan to give employment to 1 crore youth in next five years
Nitish Kumar said that under the seven decision scheme, youth have got employment and skill development opportunities. The target of 10 lakh government jobs and 10 lakh employment has been achieved in 2020. Now there are plans to provide jobs and employment to 1 crore youth in the next five years.

Bihar ahead in women empowerment- Nitish Kumar
The Chief Minister said that Bihar has set an example by giving 50% reservation to women in panchayats by 2023 and 35% reservation in police. Today, Bihar Police has the highest number of women in the country. The number of self -help groups has now increased from a few thousand to 37,000 in 2006 and more than 3 lakh livelihoods are active in them.
The Chief Minister reiterated that corruption would not be tolerated at any cost. He appealed to the public to raise their voice against corruption and support the government.
Developed Bihar resolution
Nitish Kumar said that there is immense potential for development in Bihar and with the cooperation of all, the state will be made prosperous and happy. He urged the youth to focus on education and skill development and take full advantage of opportunities. At the end of his speech, he reiterated the resolve to pursue Bihar with peace, harmony and collective efforts.
