What are the three gates of hell?
Independence Day 2025: In a special conversation with spiritual thinker and scholar of Srimad Bhagavadgita, Prashant Mukund Das, the thorough interpretation of the three gates of hell described in the Gita came out. When India is celebrating political freedom from his difficult struggle, slaves insist that the real need is the real need that real freedom, such a freedom, such as the internal freedom, the work, anger and the deeds. Citing the teachings of ancient scriptures, they say that these three defects not only destroy mental peace, but also cause the fall of the soul. His message is clear for today’s youth, along with national freedom, spiritual freedom is equally important.
The challenge is not an external enemy, but the inner enemies. These are work, anger, greed, fascination, item and fisheries. These six enemies bind the mind secretly, due to which a person becomes a victim of dissatisfaction, anxiety and stress despite material comforts. Prashant Mukund Das says, today’s youth are struggling with anxiety, depression and suicidal ideas. Even after national independence, spiritual knowledge is required to fight the difficulties of life.
Three gates of hell: work, anger and greed
Lord Krishna clearly says in the 21st verse of the 16th chapter of Srimad Bhagavad Gita.
Trividhan Narakasayedam Dwar Nashanamatmanah.
Kama: Krodhastatha Lobhastasmadattattri Tyjet
That is, there are three gates that lead to hell and also destroy the soul.
Work (uncontrolled desires) When desires get out of control, the person takes it to fulfill them regardless of the right and wrong. It leads to greed, deception, and endless dissatisfaction.
Rage (anger) Anger destroys peace of mind and tarnishes the decision ability. It breaks relationships and creates a situation of violence and regrets.
Greed Greed never allows a person to be satisfied. The more you get, the more the desire increases, and it causes mental stress and moral decline.
Prashant Mukund Das says, avoiding these three is the first step of true liberation. Work, anger and greed not only lead humans to hell, but also hold the soul in bondage
Three qualities of Maya and the bond of soul
Prashant ji further states that the three qualities of Maya, Rajas and Tamas, influence our thinking and deeds. In the 5th verse of the 14th chapter of Srimad Bhagavadgita, God says.
Sattvam Rajastam Iti Guna: Prakriti-Sambhava.
Nibdhananti Mahabaho Dehe Dehinamavayam
That is, Sattva (knowledge), Rajas (desire for enthusiasm and enjoyment) and Tamas (ignorance) These three qualities arise from nature and tie the imperishable soul with the body. Prashant ji says, these qualities keep the soul trapped in the cycle of birth and death. Tamoguna enhances ignorance, rajoguna ignites the longing for physical pleasures, and leads to virtue. But true liberation is found when we cross these three qualities
Spiritual path: path of true freedom
Prashant Mukund Das believes that today’s youth can achieve true freedom only when he adopts a spiritual path. The study of texts like Satsang, Sadhana and Gita can free us from the shadows that hold us as anxiety, stress and depression, spiritual knowledge not only gives peace to the mind, but also gives the soul a feeling of true bliss.
Message for youth
Prashant ji calls out the youth to give importance to national freedom as well as internal freedom. When we proudly wave the national flag, also take a pledge that we will free our soul from ignorance, fascination and suffering. True freedom is when we are free from not only external bonds, but also from internal chains, Prashant Mukund Das says, come on this Independence Day, we should not only celebrate external freedom, but also resolve to free our soul.
