IND vs WI 2nd Test, Day 2: Jadeja strikes after Gill’s ton as India tighten grip at tea

New Delhi: India has stamped their authority on Day 2 of the second Test against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, declaring their innings after posting a massive first-innings total of over 500 runs. Skipper Shubman Gill led from the front with a classy century and vice-captain Ravindra Jadeja struck early in the West Indies innings to keep India firmly in control.

By tea, West Indies were struggling at 26/1 in 11 overs, still trailing by 492 runs with India tightening their grip on the match. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who began the day looking set for a double hundred suffered a heartbreaking run-out on 175 after a terrible mix-up with Gill. His innings was laced with 15 fours and a six, setting the tone for India’s dominance. Gill, who was cautious on Day 1, shifted gears beautifully to bring up his 10th Test century and his highest score in home Tests, surpassing the 128 he made against Australia in 2023.
