New Delhi: India began Day 2 of the first Test against West Indies firmly in control, and by lunch, they had stretched their lead to 56 runs, reaching 218 for 3. The morning session belonged to India opener KL Rahul, who ended his long wait for a Test hundred at home as he brought up a composed ton at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This was his first century on home soil after more than nine years.
Rahul resumed his overnight score of 53 and continued to bat with patience and precision. He looked assured against both pace and spin, rotating strike and punishing anything loose. It took him 190 balls to get to the three-figure mark, a moment he celebrated with a quiet smile and a raised bat. His previous Test ton at home came way back in December 2016 against England in Chennai, when he made 199. This latest effort not only broke that drought but also reaffirmed his growing consistency at the top.
