The Indian team, which became world champion for the first time, has made a strong comeback on the field after its title win. Team India maintained its dominance by winning three consecutive matches in the T20 series against Sri Lanka. However, star batsman Jemimah Rodriguez, who played an important role in this success, suddenly fell ill. Due to this, he had to be dropped from the fourth match of the series and Harleen Deol was selected in his place. Apart from this, young pacer Kranti Gaur was rested from this match.
India and Sri Lanka were face to face in the fourth T20 on Sunday 28 December in Thiruvananthapuram. In this match, Sri Lanka won the toss but the big news came when Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur revealed the change in the playing-11. Harmanpreet told that due to sudden illness, right-handed batsman Jemimah could not be included in this match.
BCCI told why Jemima was out?
The Board of Control for Cricket in India gave an update on Jemima’s condition in a social media post. According to the BCCI post, “Due to weakness caused by mild fever, Jemimah Rodriguez was not available for selection in the fourth T20 match in Thiruvananthapuram. This series was going well for Jemima till now. Jemima, who played a big role in making Team India the world champion, also contributed in winning this series. He led the team to victory by playing an unbeaten inning of 69 runs in the very first match. In the second match also, he played a short but very fast inning of 26 runs. In 3 matches of the series, she had scored 104 runs at an average of 52.
Who got the chance in place of revolution?
However, the benefit of Jemima’s absence went to Harleen Deol, who was out of the playing 11 in the first three matches. Harleen is playing a match for Team India after more than 2 months. He played the last match against Bangladesh in the World Cup on 26 October but he did not bat in that also. Apart from Jemima, Team India also made one change. Young pacer Kranti Goud was rested and senior pacer Arundhati Reddy was selected in the team.
