IND vs PAK, T20 World Cup 2026: The controversy that arose regarding the India-Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup 2026 is now over. At the beginning of the controversy, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had announced to boycott the group match against India in Colombo on 15 February in solidarity with Bangladesh. Actually, BCB had decided not to play the match in India due to security reasons, after which ICC excluded them from the tournament and included Scotland in their place. Now Pakistan has asked to play this match, due to which they are going to get a special gift from ICC.
Big deal between ICC and Pakistan
According to media reports, the International Cricket Council has promised to give some concessions to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in exchange for ending the boycott of the match against India. A source told PTI that these concessions received by the PCB will be made public only after the World Cup is over. However, what these concessions will be has not been revealed yet. Earlier, ICC had clarified that Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will not face any ban due to being out of the tournament and they will be given the opportunity to host an ICC event in the 2028-2031 cycle.
According to reports, the ICC has agreed with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi that further details of the discussions held with the Pakistan Cricket Board, Bangladesh Cricket Board and other boards will not be made public. Due to which the ICC in its statement had confirmed not to take any action against the BCB, but there was no mention of the benefits to the PCB. In such a situation, what has been decided during the meeting will be known only after the end of the T20 World Cup.
Pakistan had made these demands
According to media reports, Naqvi had demanded ICC to increase the revenue share, but this is difficult to happen. At the same time, Naqvi has also demanded a home-away series between India and Pakistan at a neutral venue in the ICC World Test Championship, because he is playing in the remaining white-ball ICC events. Although the WTC final is the only direct ICC event, the rest of the series are bilateral. In such a situation, this demand also seems difficult to be fulfilled.
