New Delhi: in Christchurch,   have decided to rotate their pacers for the remainder of the five-match series as part of a “planned workload management” strategy.

Matt Henry will miss the remainder of the series and will stay on in Christchurch, where the first two matches were played. He will instead travel to Auckland and will link up with the ODI squad on November 2, just two days before the start of the five-match series.

Kyle Jamieson, who didn’t feature in the first two T20Is, will travel to Wellington for the third match and will stay there to take part in a Ford Trophy game for Canterbury at Basin Reserve. He will miss the last two T20Is and will join the ODI squad in Auckland after that.

Lockie Ferguson will not play in the third T20I on Tuesday and will rejoin the team in Auckland on Sunday to be available for the fourth and fifth games. Those matches are scheduled to take place in Auckland and Hamilton on October 30 and November 1, respectively.

Blair Tickner to join New Zealand squad for final three T20Is

Blair Tickner will link up with the T20I team in Wellington for the last three T20I games, while Josh Clarkson will join the squad in Auckland and be available for the final two matches. Matt Fisher will travel to Wellington as cover for the third T20I, before returning to the New Zealand A squad ahead of their second four-day match against India A.

“We’re very fortunate with the depth in the squad to be able to call upon different players to help manage our pacers’ workloads, and to try and ensure they are best placed to perform for the team for all the cricket coming up,” New Zealand head coach Rob Walter said of the situation.

Jacob Duffy and allrounder Nathan Smith are the other fast bowlers in the New Zealand team. The Men in Blue took a 2-0 lead in the five-match series after winning the first two T20Is. After the remaining three T20Is, the two sides will meet in five ODIs and two Tests.
