Abhishek Sharma Golden Duck vs New Zealand: Team India’s explosive opener Abhishek Sharma’s bat remained silent in the fourth match of the T20 series against New Zealand. He could not do anything special at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. In this match, Abhishek returned to the pavilion after scoring a golden duck on the very first ball. New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry dismissed him on a ball outside the off stump, where Abhishek tried to play a big shot but was caught out. With this he joined two shameful lists simultaneously.

Golden duck 2 times in 4 matches

This series has been full of ups and downs for Abhishek Sharma so far. Whenever he has played with his bat, he has made a big score or got out on a golden duck. While Abhishek gave a strong start to the team by playing explosive innings in the first and third matches, in the second and fourth matches he was out on his very first ball. This is his second golden duck in the series. Whereas, in the remaining two matches, he has played explosive innings of 84 runs on 35 balls and 68 runs on 20 balls.

included in this shameful list

Abhishek has now joined the shameful list of Indian openers who have been out on the first ball of the innings in T20 International matches. Apart from them, names of KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw, Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson are included in this list. Sanju Samson was out on the first ball of the innings in the last match itself. But this time Abhishek decided to take strike on the first ball and lost his wicket.

Apart from this, Abhishek Sharma has now joined the list of Indian openers who have scored the most number of golden ducks in T20 Internationals. Abhishek Sharma has become the victim of golden duck for the second time. This has happened 2-2 times with KL Rahul and Sanju Samson also. Whereas, Rohit Sharma is on top with 3 golden ducks. Let us tell you, the series has already been won by India, but this poor performance of Abhishek in the fourth match can become a matter of concern for the team management. Abhishek has shown excellent form in T20 in 2025, but his consistency in this series is under question.
