India has continued its successful streak of winning the T20 series in Australia and won the 5-match T20 series 2-1. The last match of the series in Brisbane could not be completed due to rain, due to which the match was canceled and Australia’s chance to equalize with Bath was lost. In this way, Team India won its 5th consecutive T20 series in Australia. The first match of the series was also canceled due to rain. In both these matches, Team India was batting first, when the match was canceled due to rain.
Match canceled after Gill-Abhishek storm
In the last match of the series on Saturday 8 November in Brisbane, Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and decided to bowl first. For Team India, Shubman Gill made an explosive start and rained boundaries. During this, Gill even hit 4 fours in a single over. Whereas Abhishek Sharma got the lease of life twice during this period and he also took advantage of this and batted brilliantly.
But as soon as Team India crossed the 50 mark, the match had to be stopped due to bad weather. Due to lightning and storm in Brisbane, all the players returned to the pavilion. By this time, Team India’s score was 52 runs in 4.5 overs, while no wicket had fallen. But shortly after this it started raining and the match could not be restarted. After waiting for about 2 hours, the umpires decided to cancel the match. Shubhman Gill returned unbeaten after scoring 29 runs in 16 balls and Abhishek returned unbeaten after scoring 23 runs in 13 balls.
No T20 series has been lost since 2023
With this, Team India won the 5-match series 2-1 and maintained its record of never losing by winning the 5th consecutive T20 series in Australia. Not only this, Team India has not lost any T20 series since 2023. During this period, Team India won 9 bilateral series, while one was drawn. The Indian team also won the titles of T20 World Cup and Asia Cup.
This victory is also special for captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir because after falling behind in the series, Team India came back with 2 consecutive wins and this proved to be the scoreline in the end. After this series, the Indian team will now make a direct comeback in the T20 format against New Zealand in January.
