The recently concluded ODI series between India and Australia was memorable for cricket fans. In this series, former Indian captain Rohit Sharma won everyone’s hearts with his explosive batting. He scored a total of 202 runs in three matches and was the highest run scorer in the series. During this period, he also scored a brilliant century and a half-century. But there was one player who gave him a tough competition. Australia’s powerful fast bowler Josh Hazlewood troubled Rohit a lot in the ODI series. But in the T20 series, the sons of Sharma ji and Verma ji can be seen dominating them.

Rohit’s performance against Hazlewood

In the three-match ODI series, Rohit had added only 20 runs against Hazlewood, that too after facing 53 balls. Hazlewood’s precise line-length and bounce kept Rohit confined, due to which he had to struggle a lot to score runs. This match was an interesting aspect of the series, where Hazlewood stopped the Indian captain with his art.

However, now that the turn of the T20 series has come, the circumstances may change. The short format of T20 cricket is challenging for bowlers, and Hazlewood’s record against India here has not been anything special. In 6 T20 matches, he has taken only 4 wickets, while his economy rate has been 9.04. Spending so many runs means that Indian batsmen dominate them in this format.

In this series, the young stars of the Indian team Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Verma can prove to be the biggest headache for Hazlewood. Both the players have been in excellent form for a long time and are showing explosive play in T20. In the recent Asia Cup 2025, Abhishek scored 314 runs in 7 innings of 7 matches, that too at a strike rate of 200.00. His aggressive start changed the course of many matches. At the same time, Tilak Verma scored 213 runs in 6 innings, in which his strike rate was 131.48. Both these batsmen can be adept at tearing apart Hazlewood’s bowling.
