Income Tax Return deadline: I-T dept’s response on portal issues & extension rumors

New Delhi: With only few hours left for the Income Tax Return (ITR) filing deadline to end on Monday, several taxpayers took to social media to put forward their complaints and difficulties while filing the ITR. Several people appealed to the government to extend the due date as they faced frequent glitches and difficulties in accessing the official Income Tax Department portal.

Numerous taxpayers took to social media accounts such as X to raise their complaints of facing problems while filing ITR. Several X users posted screenshots showing glitches and technical problems while using ITR portal.

Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department has categorically stated that the deadline for filing income tax return (ITR) for FY2024-25 (Assessment year 2025-26) will not be further extended from September 15. The tax department also dismissed a ‘fake news’ which claimed that the due date of filing ITRs has been further extended to September 30, 2025.
