Inauguration to CEOs meet: PM Modi’s packed schedule at AI Impact Summit

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday formally opened the AI Impact Summit, describing it as a defining global platform to shape the future of artificial intelligence, innovation and digital cooperation. The event, being hosted in New Delhi, has brought together world leaders, policymakers, technology experts and industry stakeholders.

In his inaugural address, the PM laid out India’s approach to artificial intelligence, stressing that technological advancement must remain people-centric. He called for stronger partnerships between governments, private sector players and academic institutions to ensure that emerging technologies serve the broader public interest. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of making AI accessible and equitable, and said it must remain aligned with democratic values and human dignity.

India’s vision for responsible AI

During his remarks, PM Modi spoke about the need for global collaboration in developing ethical frameworks and governance mechanisms for AI. He pointed out that innovation should not deepen digital divides but instead create inclusive growth opportunities. The Prime Minister said India aims to play a constructive role in building transparent and accountable AI systems that benefit society at large.

After the inauguration ceremony, he joined the Leaders’ Plenary session, where heads of state, ministers and senior technology leaders exchanged views on AI governance, international cooperation and innovation ecosystems.

Bilateral talks on emerging technologies

On the margins of the summit, the Prime Minister held separate bilateral meetings with leaders from the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Greece. According to official statements, the discussions focused on expanding cooperation in emerging and strategic sectors.

In his interaction with the UAE leadership, the talks centred on enhancing collaboration in artificial intelligence, fintech and advanced infrastructure. Conversations with the Netherlands and Switzerland focused on partnerships in high-tech manufacturing, semiconductor ecosystems and joint research initiatives. Discussions with Greece explored strengthening trade, connectivity and innovation-driven cooperation.

CEOs forum and investment focus

Later in the day, the PM is scheduled to take part in a high-level CEOs Forum that will see participation from over 50 global business leaders. The closed-door session is expected to deliberate on investment prospects in India’s digital economy, AI-driven innovation and regulatory frameworks aimed at supporting new technologies.

The AI Impact Summit has attracted representatives from governments, industry, academia and startup ecosystems worldwide. With wide international participation, the summit is being positioned as a major step in reinforcing India’s role in shaping the global discourse on artificial intelligence.
