Despite this, a large number of people gathered outside Maulana’s residence and mosque in the Kotwali area and clashed with the police.

The police showed strictness before the situation deteriorated and took more than two dozen people into custody. On the incident, the district’s DM Avinash Singh said, “We made it clear that permission for any kind of procession or rally is necessary. Despite this, some people took to the streets without permission and tried to spoil the atmosphere.”
