Earthquakes with 6 intensity have also occurred in other countries, but the figure of deaths in Afghanistan was not there.
Pictures and videos of the earthquake that occurred in Afghanistan on Sunday night are going to scare. So far, 800 deaths have occurred due to an earthquake of 6.0 magnitude. More than 2500 are injured. The epicenter of the earthquake was 27 km from Jalalabad city. But the question is that 6 magnitude earthquakes on the Richter scale have also come in other countries, but the death toll was not so much. Nor are there high rise buildings in Afghanistan. Now the question is, what is it in Afghanistan that so many people died.
Experts say, there is a long history of earthquake in Afghanistan, but the fault line is formed due to the most deaths. Know, what is the fault line and how this line increases the danger.
What is the fault line?
There are two big reasons behind the earthquake. The first is the movement in tectonic plates. This is the real reason for 90 percent of the earthquake. The second reason is to move the fault line. If you understand in easy language, then stir in deep cracks of the ground. Apart from this, Magma makes pressure and the ground can move due to volcanic explosion.
In the case of Afghanistan, the major cause of deaths after the earthquake is being said to the fault line. If you understand in easy language, the fault line is the crack of the earth where parts of the land rub or move together. Where this happens more, the earthquakes that bring more destruction.
Experts say more earthquakes occur on the fault line. Earthquake tectonic plates slide a few centimeters every year. The middle energy is produced in these energy, when this energy is suddenly released, the ground shakes. This is the cause of earthquake.

More than a dozen earthquakes of 7 magnitude
Brian Bapty, an earthquaker of the British Geological Survey, says Afghanistan’s deadly earthquake was the result of one of the world’s most powerful and active seismic powers. Behind this earthquake is the same power that has built the Himalayas, Karakoram and Tibetan plateau- that is, India and Eurasia plates confrontation.
He said, India is moving towards Eurasia at a rate of about 45 mm every year, this conflict field is one of the most seismic segregated areas of the Earth. Which produces up to 15 percent of all the seismic energy released worldwide every year. Northeast Afghanistan present in this seismic region is known for the history of earthquakes. More than a dozen earthquakes of 7 magnitude have occurred in this region since 1900.

When did the earthquake shook Afghanistan in 10 years?
- October 2023: Three earthquakes occurred in Herat province, which was one of the most horrific natural disasters in the country. On 7 October, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in Harat province of western Afghanistan. Three days later, on 11 October, another earthquake of 6.3 magnitude occurred in the province, and on 15 October an earthquake of 6.4 magnitude was recorded. According to the British Red Cross Society, at least 2,445 people died in these earthquakes.
- March 21, 2023: Near the border of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a 6.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the northeastern province Badkhashan. 13 people were killed.
- September 2022: Two earthquakes of 5.1 and 4.6 magnitude occurred in North-Eastern Afghanistan’s neighboring provinces Kunar and Nangarhar. Eight people died.
- June 22, 2022: A 6.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Statakika, Pantia, Khost and Nangarhar provinces of eastern Afghanistan. More than 1,000 people were killed in this disaster and many houses collapsed.
- January 17, 2022: According to UASGS, Qadis district of Badgis province of western Afghanistan, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake and 26 people died.
- October 26, 2015: A 7.5 magnitude earthquake occurred near the Hindu Kush region of North-Eastern Afghanistan. According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society (IFRC), 117 people were killed. IFRC quoted Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority as saying that 272 people were killed and earthquake tremors were felt in many other countries.
If you look at the figures, you will find that the death toll was low after the earthquake on the border of Afghanistan, but the earthquakes that occurred in Afghanistan caused more deaths.
