Rise in gold and silver prices
Despite facing the brunt of global tension, the Indian market somehow stood strong in the year 2025. This trend of strengthening has continued this year also. Last week, the market’s main index Sensex closed at 85,762.01 with a rise of 0.89 percent. Meanwhile, a boom was also seen in the commodity market. The prices of both gold and silver have increased in the last week.
Gold prices in the country seem to be moving upwards once again. There has been a good rise in gold prices in the last one week. During this period, 24 carat gold has become costlier by about Rs 750, while the price of 22 carat gold has increased by Rs 760. It is clear from this that along with investors, common customers also remain interested in gold.
Condition of big cities including Delhi, Mumbai
On January 4, 2026, 24 carat gold has reached the level of around Rs 1,35,970 per 10 grams in the capital Delhi. Whereas the price of 22 carat gold has been recorded at around Rs 1,24,650 per 10 grams. Talking about Mumbai, here 24 carat gold is trading at around Rs 1,35,820 and 22 carat gold is trading at Rs 1,24,500 per 10 grams. Almost similar rates are being seen in Chennai, Kolkata, Pune and Bangalore also.
Getting support from international market
Gold prices are also getting support from the global market. Gold has reached a new record level in the international market. Spot gold is trading around $4,392 per ounce. Last year i.e. in 2025, gold had registered a tremendous growth of about 73 percent and it is expected to continue its rise in 2026 also.
Silver also showed shine
Along with gold, there has also been a sharp rise in the prices of silver. In the last one week, silver has become costlier by about Rs 3,100. At present the price of silver in the domestic market is around Rs 2,41,000 per kg. So far this year, silver prices have increased by more than 160 percent, which is considered to be a better performance than gold.
