Improvement in women’s safety in UP, mission power changed the picture of law and order. UP Women Safety Mission Shakti Crime Report

In NCRB report, crime against UP women below the national average. Mission power and strict law and order improved women’s security, ensured quick action in domestic violence and rape cases.

There is a positive change in the matter of safety of women in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s effective implementation of zero tolerance policy and Mission Shakti Abhiyan on crime against women has stood in a better position at the national level. This clear picture has been revealed in the Crime in India 2023 report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Crime rate against women below national average

According to the report, in the year 2023, 66,381 cases related to women were registered in the state. The crime rate per lakh women’s population in the state was 58.6, while the national average was 66.2. On this basis, Uttar Pradesh is ranked 17th in the country in crime rate against women.

UP’s best performance in various categories

The UP was better than the national average in the conflict (modesty fracture) matters. 83,891 cases were registered across the country, while UP only 9,453 cases and crime rates were 8.3. The state ranks 19th in this category.

In the rape (IPC 376) cases, 3,516 cases were registered in UP and the crime rate was 3.1, while the national average was 4.4. On this basis, the state is ranked 22nd.

UP also performed better in cases related to sexual exploitation of children under the POCSO Act. 8,706 cases were registered in the state and the crime rate was 10.2, while the national average was 15.2. UP is ranked 24th in this category.

Effect of mission power and strict law

Decreased female crime rate is not just the result of police activism. The growing trend of women’s complaint and quick legal action are also the main reasons behind this. The Mission Shakti Abhiyan, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has given women confidence to openly come forward for their rights.

Rapid action in cases like domestic violence, dowry harassment and tampering has ensured justice. The impact of this policy and campaign is clearly visible, due to which UP has stood in a better position in terms of safety of women in the country.
