In this series, on Wednesday, an eight-member high-level delegation led by Junichi Ishidora, Lieutenant Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture of Japan, paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. In this meeting held in a cordial atmosphere, important issues like India-Japan strategic partnership, clean energy and cultural cooperation were discussed in depth.

India-Japan relations are based on mutual trust and shared values

Welcoming the Japanese delegation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that relations between India and Japan are not just diplomatic but based on shared values ​​like mutual trust, discipline, innovation and sustainable development. Referring to the continuously strengthening strategic partnership between the two countries under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that Uttar Pradesh is working with full commitment to realize this global cooperation at the ground level.

Focus on effective implementation of MOU

During the meeting, special emphasis was laid on the effective implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Uttar Pradesh Government and Yamanashi Prefecture in the year 2024. This MoU provides a strong framework for cooperation in the areas of clean energy, especially green hydrogen, innovation, capacity building and sustainable industrial development. Both sides described the agreement as a foundation for future partnership and discussed its concrete results.

Uttar Pradesh’s strong initiative in green hydrogen

Chief Minister Yogi said that centers of excellence have been established in Uttar Pradesh to promote research, innovation and skill development in the field of green hydrogen. Along with this, a clear, transparent and favorable environment has been created for investors through Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy-2024. The responsibility of effective implementation of this policy has been entrusted to UPNEDA.

The meeting highlighted the start of commercial operations of the Green Hydrogen Pilot Project in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YIDA) area as an important achievement. The Japanese delegation appreciated the initiatives of the state government in the field of clean energy and expressed its desire to further expand cooperation in the future.

New direction for cultural cooperation from Buddhist heritage

On this occasion, the deep civilizational and cultural relations between India and Japan were also discussed in detail. Possibilities to further strengthen people-to-people contacts, especially through Buddhist heritage and Buddhist tourism circuits, were agreed upon. The Chief Minister said that cultural exchange not only deepens mutual understanding but also strengthens long-term partnerships.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed confidence that this cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi province will become stronger in the coming times.
