The Uttar Pradesh government is going to issue a new policy for the implementation of affordable housing and affordable rental housing components in partnership under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0. As per the guidelines issued by the Government of India, a policy of 2026 has been proposed for the operation of these two components in the state.
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna in the Yogi government said that under the scheme, the limit of housing construction for the economically weaker section and low income group has been changed. The limit which was earlier for EWS and LIG category has now been increased to Rs 9 lakh. Along with this, the area of houses to be built for these sections has been fixed at 30 square meters.
Under this scheme, financial assistance will be provided by both the Central and State Government for housing construction. An assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh will be provided from the Central Government and Rs 1 lakh from the State Government on each house.
Under the scheme, incentives will also be given to developers working in whitelisted projects. Under this, a provision has been made for exemption in land use change fee, map approval and external development fee. Besides, beneficiaries will also be given relief in stamp duty.
Under Affordable Rental Housing Model-2, a provision has been made to build rental houses for the urban poor, working women, employees working in industries and industrial estates and other eligible EWS and LIG families. These houses can be constructed, operated and maintained by private or public institutions.
Proposal for construction of sports complex in Ayodhya
Along with this, a proposal has been prepared for the construction of a sports complex in Ayodhya under the Chief Minister Global City Development Scheme. For this, the process of transferring Nazul land in favor of the Municipal Corporation has been started.
This proposal has been made available on the basis of the letter from the District Magistrate Ayodhya to the Municipal Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Ayodhya. According to the proposal, Nazul land located at Chak No. 4, Mohalla Vashishtha Kund, Pargana Haveli Avadh, Tehsil Sadar will be transferred to Municipal Corporation Ayodhya for the construction of a sports complex.
This land is a total of 7 kilos of land of Gata number 1026, 1027, 1029, 1030, 1031, 1033 (min) and 1035, whose total area is 2500 square meters.
In the proposal, a request has been made to transfer this land free of cost in favor of Municipal Corporation Ayodhya. Besides, it has been proposed to provide exemption in the fee fixed on the basis of circle rate of the District Magistrate and allot it subject to certain conditions and restrictions.
The document also mentions that this transfer will be done as an exception and will not be considered as a precedent in future.
