Why is World Hindi Day celebrated on 10th January?
The origin of World Hindi Day is inspired by the first World Hindi Conference held in Nagpur on 10 January 1975. This conference was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. 122 representatives from 30 countries participated in it, due to which Hindi got global recognition. The foundation of Hindi’s international journey was laid in 1948, when for the first time a speech was given in Hindi in the United Nations General Assembly. After this, in 2006, the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh officially announced to celebrate January 10 as World Hindi Day. Till now 12 World Hindi Conferences have been organized.
