IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert For THESE Districts Till August 13; Check Forecast For Kolkata

Bengal Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that several parts of West Bengal are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall till August 13. The weather department stated that the coastal regions are also expected to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds along with the rain. The rainfall is also likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. However, the continuous downpour is also likely to lead to other issues like waterlogging and power outages in several areas. The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several North Bengal districts, including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar, are likely to witness heavy rainfall till August 13. Apart from rainfall, these regions are also expected to witness thunderstorms and strong winds. The IMD further stated that these regions will receive rainfall due to a cyclonic circulation over the coasts of Bangladesh and West Bengal.
