IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert For Shimla, Mandi, Other Districts Till August 12; Check Forecast

Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that several regions of Himachal Pradesh are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that apart from rainfall, these districts are also expected to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. The continuous rainfall has led to the blockage of several key roads of the state, leading to slow vehicular movement. The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

Himachal Weather: These areas to witness rainfall till August 12

While providing details, the IMD stated that the capital city Shimla has been witnessing rainfall for the past 24 hours and is expected to witness similar weather conditions for the next few days. It further stated that several other regions, including the Kangra, Una, and Sirmaur districts, are also set to witness rainfall till August 12.

“On August 9, a Yellow Alert has been issued for Kangra, Una, and Sirmaur districts for heavy rainfall. Rainfall activity is expected to pick up again from the night of August 10 and continue through the morning of August 11,” Sandeep Kumar Sharma, Senior Scientist at the IMD Shimla Centre was quoted as saying by ANI.

The weather department further stated that several districts, including Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Bilaspur, Una, Hamirpur, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kullu, and Chamba, are also likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 11 and 12.

“Widespread rainfall is likely across the state on August 11 and 12. Particularly, Chamba, Kangra, and Mandi districts have been issued an Orange Alert for heavy rainfall on these days, while Yellow Alerts have been issued for other mid-hill districts such as Bilaspur, Una, Hamirpur, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kullu, and Chamba,” Sharma added.
