During the festive season, getting a train ticket becomes more difficult than getting leave from office. This time too, just 2 days before Diwali, the IRCTC website was down. People could not book Tatkal tickets. If you are also in this list then do not worry, we will tell you step by step how you will be able to get the same day ticket without immediate booking.
For passengers who prefer offline train ticket booking, sometimes it may prove better to visit the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counter for same day travel. However, you can also book tickets for same-day travel using the IRCTC website or its app, provided tickets are available.
Book tickets like this
- To book same day train tickets without Tatkal service, one has to first go to IRCTC website or app.
- After that you will have to login with your IRCTC user ID and password.
- After that, select the station you want to go and enter the date of journey and submit.
- After that the list of trains on that route will come. Select route timing by clicking on preferred train.
- Click on the class type (eg Sleeper, 3AC, 2AC). This fare is for one adult, which includes IRCTC service charge.
- Click on the class in the selected train to see whether seats are available or not.
- Click on “Book Now” in the Availability section. If you want another train then “reset”.
- Double check that the train name and station on the booking page are correct.
- Fill in the passenger’s name, age, gender and berth preference (upper/lower).
- After entering all the details, click on “Make Payment” and then go to the secure payment page of the bank and make the payment.
