Arjun Tendulkar named Yuvraj Singh as his batting idol instead of Sachin. Arjun, who now plays for Lucknow Super Giants, moved from Mumbai to Goa cricket to get more opportunities. According to him, playing matches continuously is necessary for development.
Arjun Tendulkar has revealed his batting idol and that name is not Sachin Tendulkar, but Yuvraj Singh. He said that he liked former Indian star Yuvraj’s style of playing at the crease. The Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder said this in a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, where he discussed his career and future plans.
Arjun has been traded from Mumbai Indians to the Lucknow team in exchange for Shardul Thakur. It is expected that when Lucknow faces Delhi Capitals in the first match of IPL 2026, Arjun can be included in the playing XI. Despite being the son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun admitted that none of his seasons in the league have been ‘breakthrough’ so far.
When asked about his inspiration apart from his father, Arjun replied, “Yuvraj Singh.” When asked whether he was a fan of Yuvraj’s bowling, he clarified, “He was a spinner, I am a pacer.”
Decision to go to Goa for more opportunities
Arjun told that his decision to leave Mumbai cricket was due to the need to get a chance to play continuously. He admitted that the competition in the Mumbai team is very strong and going to Goa gave him better opportunities to play regularly. “Every player wants more opportunities. Nobody wants to sit on the bench,” he said.
He further said that playing matches continuously is very important for the development of any player. His move was to take on more responsibility and further hone his all-round skills.
Arjun did not get many opportunities with Mumbai Indians in the IPL, but he got valuable experience working with senior cricketers and coaches. Mishra asked him if he felt he should have got more chances after bowling well in his short spell. To this Arjun replied, “A player’s job is just to work hard and capitalize on the opportunity when he gets it.”
