Fastag New Rules: Toll payment rules of non-fastag vehicles on the National Highway have been changing from 15 November 2025. Cash payments will have to double the toll fee, while the UPI or digital payment will be charged only 1.25 times.
Fastag new toll rules: Those who pay cash on toll tax have suffered a major setback. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a new rule to make toll payment easier and digital on the National Highway. Under this, vehicle owners who do not have fastag will now have to pay separate charges to pay toll fee. The new rule will be applicable from November 15. The government aims to reduce cash transactions on toll and promote digital payment.
Doubly charge for cash payers
According to the new rule, which is implemented from 15 November 2025, if a train crosses toll without fastag and pays with cash, it will have to double the toll fee. This means that now passengers paying cash will have to spend more. For example, if the toll of a vehicle is Rs 100, then the cash will have to pay 200 rupees.
Those who pay from UPI will get big relief
The option of UPI or digital payment has now become the most beneficial for non-fasting train owners. With this, payment will be charged only 1.25 times. That is, for a toll of 100 rupees, only 125 rupees will have to be paid. This will save passengers to save Rs 75 as compared to cash payments and will also save time on toll plazas.
What is the purpose of the government?
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has clarified that this change is not limited to saving just money. Its objective is to bring transparency in toll collection, promote digital payment and make the journey easier for passengers on the National Highway.
How much does the annual fastag pass?
The government has launched the annual Fastag pass for the convenience of passengers. It costs Rs 3,000 and will remain valid for one year. From this, a vehicle owner can cross the toll 200 times a year. This means that it will cost around Rs 15 per toll crossing and there will be no hassle of repeated stopping and recharging at the toll plaza.
